1. Park Improvements
Action: Kerrell to follow up with local councillor regarding proposed improvements to the park.
2. Finance Update
Newsletter sponsorship payment has been received since the last meeting.
£466 has been spent on free weights/freemovement initiatives and tree planting.
Current account balance is approximately £950.
3. Litter Pick
A blocked drain was identified and needs to be reported via the Devon County Council website.
Action: BB to report the issue.
4. Planting Events
Plan to arrange bulb and flower planting events in October and earlier throughout the area.
Funding: To explore grants through Exeter City Council (community grants) and County Council.
5. Speeding Issues
Speeding Signs: Estimated cost is around £7,000 for two signs.
Action: Query and follow up with County Council.
Speedwatch: Des to request volunteers and include data from previous sessions in communications.
6. Redcoats Tour
Date & Time: Sunday, 8th June from 11am to 1pm.
Details: Maximum of 20 participants. Booking deadline is 30/05/2025. Tour duration: 2 hours.
7. University Liaison
Victoria (Treasurer) is the new contact point for any matters relating to the university.
8. Summer Fair
Timing: Mid-June (3 possible dates, 2 as backups).
Activities: Traditional games (e.g. hoop toss), cake sale, potential BBQ, and ice cream van.
Action:
Create a list of volunteers and planned activities.
Victoria to approach the university for possible sponsorship of the ice cream van.
9. Local Recommendations
Request to be posted in the local group for key trade recommendations.
Action: KB to add current recommendations to the website.
10. Path Improvement
Action: Contact Friends of Hoopern Valley for support in improving the path between the park and university.
11. Community Site Development
Suggestion: Mike proposed a meeting with planning committee members to discuss creating a community site.
Action: MM to introduce BB to relevant planning committee members.
12. Bus Service
Issue: K Bus does not run via West Garth Road on Sundays.
Action:
